What a Great Day…

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

In this dismal economy, any positive message cheers me up, especially since it is in this economy that I have finally decided to incorporate my company. All I have seen from (most) online tech blogs are messages of doom and catastrophes. Today, I saw a different message.

The video embedded below is the 2008 Holiday Card from First Round Capital, a well known venture capital firm with an impressive portfolio, which includes companies like Powerset, OpenX, and StumbleUpon. First Round Capital introduces the video by writing that, “after a year when so many of the big things have us spooked, lets remember the happiness of simple things, like dancing with friends and colleagues.”

In the video, First Round Capital had employees from their 70+ startups dance (each startup had employees dancing for a few seconds while the startup’s name and location was posted at the bottom of the screen) and combined that into a video montage with Garry Schyman’s ‘Praan’ as the background music.

The video is simply awesome. It’s hilarious, ridiculous and abnormal yet very soothing and refreshing. When I first watched it, the positive messages First Round Capital were sending almost brought tears to my eyes. We really need to focus less on the bad news and think more about the positives around us.

Kudos to TechCrunch for continuing to post these positive messages instead of following the other blogs’ negativity. This merely reaffirms why I love TechCrunch so much.

P.S. – In addition to this beautiful message, today also marks my first blog post, making this already great day even greater. Welcome to my blog!
